We are planning a socially distant work party to build some little free pantries for the community. We could use any helping hands that are willing to come. Our target date is mid January, we are putting this notice out as early as possible so people can make plans to join us. We have not chosen a date and will announce the date and location closer to the actual date. We will also be talking and planning for future actions at this event so make the plan to join us and get involved in our projects or start your own. Building supplies and art supplies would be appreciated for this event. Please check our list of donation sites, or for large lumber just bring it down the day of. In Solidarity.
Come and join us for a free hot meal (to go), whatever fresh groceries we have, and our free store will include the donated items listed on our needs list. If you have a need that isn’t listed below get in touch with us. This is a totally free event open for all.
We will be at Zelasko Park in downtown Aberdeen from 12 – 2 PM, every Sunday starting December 6th. This will be followed by some mobile distribution to the surrounding community as well as some solidarity deliveries to local missions, food banks, Seattle mutual aid projects, community fridges/pantries, and more. We hope to see you there!
We are still/always looking for places in town to accept donations on our behalf. We are in the process of building some donation drop boxes, free pantries, and community fridge shelters, to offer to those willing to host one or all. If you have a location (home or business) and would be willing to host a donation drop box, free pantry, have an outlet to donate for a community fridge, or are just interested in making a donation let us know. We will install, stock, and maintain them for you.
*COVID-19* We will have signage describing proper social distancing guidelines, as a mutual aid group we take this very seriously and hope that everyone who decides to join us will follow these guidelines. We will have hand washing stations, hand sanitizer, and face masks free for use. We have adopted and implemented a sanitation procedure for our work going forward found here:
Check it Out!!
One of our artistically inclined volunteers took the rained out banner from last week home and created this INCREDIBLE banner just waiting to be colored by the rest of us this Sunday. Come and join us at Cultivating Roots Community Garden from 12 to 2 PM. We will be holding a meeting for the mutual aid network and food not bombs before getting our hands dirty in the garden.
Check below for a needs list and be prepared to brainstorm the answers to questions such as, what roles are there/what skills do you bring?, where and when can we pickup, cook, and table our food?, when and where to hold regular meetings outside of cultivating roots? and any other questions you may have.
Please reach out to join either our Signal chat, or our new Element Community. These are not public by their nature and require an invitation.
